Cliff Burton - Often called as "GOD" of Bass Guitar

My First post,

Wanted to start off with writing a blog on a Great person who i felt was a great human being, a Great Bass player of his generation, a person who never gave "shit" about anybody.

This person has always been so very inspirational with his music, that if i still listen to his best works (Anesthesia - Pulling teeth, The Call of Ktulu & Orion (one of my best Instrumental songs)) , i feel that this person is still alive with his music where ever these songs are played.

According to James Hetfield & Lars Ulrich, when they were deciding to recruit a bass player for their band they went to a pub ( i think called Whiskey a Go-Go), where they were awestruck with weird "guitar" sound they heard. When they came to know that it was a Bass guitar sound they decided to recruit him immediately, with the condition from Cliff that they move over to San Francisco. That's how it all started with the Four Beasts starting off a band called "Metallica"

Cliff always had a distinctive style of playing. He could play fast "guitar" like riffs, slow melodic solos using his fingers (which very few bassists use, like Maiden's Steve Harris (my other inspiration)

About the 3 instrumental songs Cliff played

1.
Anesthesia - Pulling teeth - This was the very song that James & Lars heard Cliff playing at the pub when they were searching for a bass player

2. The Call of Ktulu - Cliff's obsession with H.P. Lovecraft from a young age, Beautifully layered, Bass with the guitar

3. Orion
- One of the SUPERB instrumental bass songs every on the Awesome Metal record "Master of Puppets". I can listen to this song any day, any mood, any place am in, even if this songs makes me have a whiplash i wouldn't mind it.

..to be continued..
